B O S T O N U N I V E R S I T Y Computer Science Department C O L L O Q U I U M Wednesday, November 6, 3:00 PM (Coffee served at 2:45 PM) Seminar Room / MCS 135 The Transparent Cryptographic File System (TCFS) Luigi Catuogno Università di Salerno This talk will describe the design and the implementation of TCFS: a cryptographic distributed filesystem (à la NFS). It lets users access sensitive files stored on a remote server in a secure way. It combats eavesdropping and data tampering both at the server and over the network by using encryption and message digest. Applications access data on a TCFS filesystem using the regular system calls thus yelding complete transparency to the users. TCFS has been implemented on the LINUX and {Open,Net}BSD Systems.
