I have served in an executive role at Cogo Labs
(formerly Adverplex) since the company's founding in 2005. I was the founding Chief
Technology Officer of the company, became Chief Scientist upon my return to academia
in 2007, and have served on the Board of Directors since 2008.
From 1998 to 2003, I served as an Affiliated Scientist at
Digital Fountain, Inc.,
and I co-authored the digital
fountain paper (Proc. of ACM SIGCOMM '98, recipient of the
ACM SIGCOMM Test of Time
Award in 2009) that described the networking applications
and primary benefits of the underlying technology, fast erasure codes.
In the 1990s, I served as an instructor and educational consultant
at Hewlett-Packard, Inc. My primary responsibility was teaching
the Software Job Skills class, a full-time, 17-week retraining
program that gave HP engineers the basis for a new career in
software development.
