This research seminar reviewed the successes and failures of
selected distributed systems techniques, in addressing large-scale
real-world problems. In particular, we studied the strengths and
limitations of the end-to-end design principle and the associated
end-to-end argument that supports it, as applied in the ongoing design
of the Internet.
A follow-up seminar will be offered in Spring '03. Stay
tuned.
