The fifth Euromicro Workshop is a forum that covers the state-of- art research and development in real time computing, which is becoming an essential discipline in the field of computer science and engineering. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: -Hardware architectures, operating systems and real time languages -Scheduling, including methodologies, pitfalls and ad hoc solutions -Distributed systems, including transputer networks and their real time applications, operating environments and system integration -System design methodologies, specification, synthesis, validation, fault tolerance and testing -Advanced applications, including autonomous machines, robotics, real time prototyping and real time DSP programming -Real time telecommunications software -Real time aspects of AI, including applications such as on-line diagnosis and sensory integration -Real time object oriented systems Sessions on special topics proposed and organized by delegates will be welcome. Please send suggestions to the program chairman no later than October 15th, 1992. The Proceedings will be published by IEEE. CALL FOR PAPERS Submitting papers: send five copies of an extended summary not exceeding five pages, clearly showing the name, the mailing address, the e-mail address and fax number of the author to contact. The task of the referees will be made easier if a brief statement is added pointing out the aspects of the paper which are yet unpublished and of special value to the Real Time area. The following declaration should also be added: "all necessary clearances for the publication of this paper have been obtained. If accepted, the author will prepare the final manuscript in time for inclusion in the Proceedings and will present the paper at the workshop". The closing date is November 15th, 1992; summaries should be mailed to the program chairman. Notification of acceptance will be mailed by February 1st, 1993. A camera ready version of the full paper will be required by March 1st, 1992, so that it can be printed in the Proceedings of the Workshop. The climate is usually warm and pleasant at the end of June in Oulu and the average daytime temperature is about 20 C. At the end of the week, when the Workshop will be held, there will be the Midsummer festival, with the sun above the horizon for about 23 hours. It will never get dark. Special Midsummer tours for the participants can be arranged after the Workshop. Travel and hotels Oulu can be easily reached from Helsinki by air or by train. There are more than 10 flights every day from Helsinki to Oulu (flight time 45 minutes). The hotels are situated in the center of the city. Location The Workshop will be held at the Linnanmaa campus of the University of Oulu which is situated 5 km north of the city center. The Workshop site can be reached by bus from the city center in 15 minutes. Social events The mayor of Oulu will have a reception at the Oulu City Hall on the evening of the second day of the Workshop. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Message 2; Postmarked Fri Jul 31 13:16:04 1992 From: best@cs.bu.edu (Azer Bestavros) Subject: IEEE-RTTC server: New Members The following are new subscribers to the IEEE-RTTC mailing list: (Zedan, Hussein) zedan@minster.york.ac.uk (Hong, Seongsoo) sshong@cs.umd.edu (Howard,Ed) edhoward@nosc.mil -- IEEE-RTTC server ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<* END OF THE IEEE-RTTC NEWSLETTER *>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The IEEE-RTTC repository is maintained by Azer Bestavros at Boston University Internet address for anonymous FTP to the IEEE-RTTC repository is: cs.bu.edu Contributions to this forum should be sent by E-mail to: IEEE-RTTC@cs.bu.edu Requests or inquiries should be sent by E-mail to: IEEE-RTTC-request@cs.bu.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
