Some new events and opportunities:

* Student programmers are needed for a "Video-game based linguistics
  project" at Boston University. $12 per hour, ca. 8 hours per week
  for 4 months.  Please send email to me (betke@cs.bu.edu) and Mike
  Carroll (mcarroll@bu.edu) if you are interested.

* One-day workshop on "Me, a Computer Science Grad Student?"
   Saturday, Sept 29, 2007, University of Massachusetts Amherst

* Workshops for women by the WAGE Project, Oct 2, 2007
  (www.bu.edu/wise). Designed to help young women learn about wage
  discrimination and strategies to make sure that throughout their
  careers they receive the salaries they deserve.

* Consider joining the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery =
  professional organization for computer scientists).  Student
  Membership: $19.  Flyers in the CS Department Office MCS 138.
